We lost my mom to a massive heart attack on December 29, 2005. The year began with her funeral on January 2, 2006. We almost lost my dad, too.  The pursuing year was filled with trips to help Dad get back on his feet. After recovering from his own near heart failure and while still in the midst of his grief, in May he lost the great toe on his right foot.
