Vernita has painted since she was a young child taking her first oil classes at the age of nine years. Now she has come full circle back to professional artist. Vernita has received awards for architectural designs and community work from the Univeristy of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture as well as awards for graphic design at North Harris Montgomery College. Her paintings have been awarded 1st place blue ribbons and 1st place honorable mention by Northwest Art League, a member organization of parent organization Texas Art Leagues.
